Ratchet Tools

Operating tools for the gear-driven winch range. Both fit the 24.8 mm gear socket and drive the worm gear directly — neither is a lever bar, and neither is inserted into the drum. One tool serves every winch model.

Models

Which tool, and how many

Both tools fit the same 24.8 mm gear socket and do the same job. The plain winch handle is faster in open deck space because a full sweep moves more strap per motion. The ratchet wrench is the answer where clearance is tight — against a headboard, between stacked cargo, or up against a bulkhead — since it does not need room for a full turn.

Many fleets carry both, and most order per operator rather than per winch: one handle serves an entire trailer, so the count follows headcount plus a spare per truck.

Neither tool is a winch bar and neither is inserted into the drum. Do not substitute a pipe, cheater bar, or impact tool on the gear socket — it applies torque the gear set is not designed for, and it voids the warranty.

Common to every model

  • 22:1 worm gear drive — roughly 40 lb of force at the handle to reach working tension.
  • 24.8 mm handle socket. One handle fits every winch in the range.
  • Service temperature range −40 °F to 266 °F on the specified grease.
  • Rated capacity feeds the aggregate calculation in 49 CFR 393.106(d). The minimum tie-down count is a separate test.
