Why a gear drive instead of a winch bar
Patented two-stage clutch
US Patent No. 11,603,029. The clutch disengages the drum from the gear, so slack takes up by hand instead of through a 22:1 reduction.
No winch bar
Tensioning is done with a handle turning a 22:1 worm gear. Nothing is inserted into the drum, so the kickback path that causes most winch-bar injuries is not there.
About 40 lb at the handle
The gear provides the mechanical advantage instead of operator leverage, so reaching working tension takes roughly 40 lb of force.

Every winch model carries the same rating, contributing its full WLL to the 49 CFR 393.106(d) aggregate calculation.
Two-stage operation
Free-spool by hand to take up slack, then engage the gear for final tension. The lock state is visible at a glance on a walk-around.
See it work
A 22:1 worm gear replaces the winch bar. Take up slack by hand on the big handwheel, engage the gear with the small handwheel, then reach working tension with roughly 40 lb of force at the handle — with no bar in the drum.
