Disc C Slider

What it is

The Disc C Slider is a disc-clutch variant of our C-channel sliding winch, originally built to Australian market specification. Working load limit is 6,600 lb (3,000 kg), the same as the standard Double C, at a slightly heavier 14.11 lb (6.4 kg).

When to specify it

The disc clutch changes how the drum engages and disengages. Fleets that already run this variant elsewhere in their equipment usually standardise on it for parts commonality. For a new US flatbed fitment with no existing preference, the Double C Slider is the more common choice.

Why a gear drive

Tensioning uses a 22:1 worm gear turned by a handle, not a steel winch bar levered against the drum. Roughly 40 lb of force at the handle brings the strap to working tension, and no bar enters the drum during tensioning.

Cargo securement

Functions as a tie-down anchor under 49 CFR 393.104 and the general securement rule at 49 CFR 393.106. The aggregate working load limit of all tie-downs must be at least half the weight of the secured article per § 393.106(d). The minimum tie-down count under § 393.110 is a separate test.

Service and inspection

Grease with Showa Shell Alvania RA-J (−40 °F to 266 °F) or Valvoline Full Synthetic Moly Fortified. Keep tensioning force below 2.5 tons.
